Summer
Journal:
Getting Started
Wednesday
Writing™ Summer Edition
is back. To start things off, let's make a Summer
Journal.
- Pick
out a journal. Find a journal that you like so you will enjoy writing
and drawing in it. Here are some examples:
- a
spiral notebook
- a
binder with notebook paper inside it
- a
book with blank pages.
- Decorate
the front and back covers of your journal. Put your name somewhere on
the front cover. Fill the covers with drawings, words, magazine
pictures, photographs, stickers, stamps, and more. If you need some
ideas, think about these things:
- things
that remind you of summer
- things
that inspire you
- things
you dream about
- things
that are important to you
- things
you love
- what
you enjoy doing
- good
memories
- Now,
you are ready to write and draw in your journal.
- Remember
to visit us each week for Journal
Ideas
(see right column).

On the
first page of your journal, write a letter to the person you will be at
the end of the summer. Write about what you want to do over the summer,
what you hope will happen, etc.
Extra Point.
Go back and read this letter at the end of the summer.
