The City and Country Iguana
by Matt Low
Once when I went on a joyful vacation to the Golapogos island I heard some people talking, talking about the difference between the native Marien Iguana. That lonely night lying down I had a dream, a dream I was one of those iguanas. I'm lying down in the lush, green grass, I wonder how's my brother. I'll pay him a visit. The next few days I spent eating, sleeping, and sun bathing.

On the fourth day I set out on my long, treacherous, journey across the sea. In a few hours I made it however, it was rocky and hilly not like my place grassy and flat. Suddenly a humongous, dominate male pops out and says, "This is my territory back off, or duel." I noticed a scar, a scar I made when I was a kid. I did a death roll and scarred his back leg. "Duel or die!" he said. "Brother I'm you little brother, the one who did the death roll and scarred your leg remember?" I said. "Well" he said "Glad you told me cause I was about to shred you up." "I'm hungry, do you have something that I could eat?" "Yes." he replied. That night for dinner we had crustaceans, sea gull, and sea gull eggs. It was unusual dinner. The next morning he said, "I want to see your place, can we go to it." "Sure, its far away but lets go!" When we got there we ate a half hot dog, funnel cake.

Soon we fell asleep. Early the next morning I woke up, he my brother was gone. I ran out to ask the others! They said, "He left without telling any one, I guess." Suddenly I was rudely woken up by my dog. That morning I told my family at breakfast about my dream. Later we went to go feed the iguanas, one had a scar on its back leg.

The Country Rabbit and the City Rabbit
by Caitlin Little
One day the city rabbit was playing with his friends and started thinking of his brother. Country rabbit. City rabbit's brother was also thinking about his brother. So city rabbit started packing his bags and headed off to the country to meet his brother that lived in the country. After about two hours, city rabbit got tired of hopping so instead of hopping more he decided to rest, even though he promised himself he would be there in two days. On the other hand, while City Rabbit was resting, Country Rabbit was out in his huge garden picking carrots and heads of lettuce for dinner. After City Rabbit awoke he was ready to hop some more so off he went. By night fall city rabbit was tired so he went to sleep. The next morning the bright yellow sun awoke city rabbit and before you could say "Country Rabbit" he was on his way. By afternoon he had reached Country Rabbit's house. Although there was no doorbell, he was still excited. Country Rabbit answered the door and to his surprise City Rabbit was already hugging Country Rabbit and unpacking at the same time. After awhile they both sat down quietly and started talking. Suddenly country rabbit asked "Would you like to have some dinner?" Sure replied City Rabbit. Good we are having carrots, lettuce, milk, and old dried up roots. "ROOTS?" Screamed City Rabbit. "I'm sorry but I just can't eat roots." "Why don't you come to my place" replied City Rabbit? "It's fun, you can meet my friends and have lots of lessons on jumping rope." "Well, ok," said Country rabbit. "I guess I will take a chance." So they helped each other pack their bags and started hopping there way down the road. The next day they reached the city. There were lots of people and cars also roads. The big buildings and the loud music scared Country rabbit but he had a feeling they were almost to city Rabbits house. Finally they had reached his house. He opened the door and it was a huge mess. Country Rabbit was very disappointed and so he left with the door slamming behind him and that is the story of the City Rabbit and the Country rabbit which are not that similar.

The Country Squirrel and the City Squirrel
by Jennifer Listerman
One day a tiny squirrel named Frisky was walking alongside the same gravel road that he always does. When he was walking he saw some yummy roots and berries to eat even though he already had some. However he wanted some more so if any guests came over he would have enough food. After that he went home to have a nice picnic under his old oak tree. But when he got home his phone started to ring. Frisky said, "Hello." "Hello," said his cousin Bushy. Frisky started talking about how they were the reverse and what they have in common. Then Frisky asked Bushy if he would like to come to the country. Bushy said, "Yes." While Bushy was making his way to the country he saw a big hairy dog. The dog spotted him and chased Bushy into a big hollow log. Bushy was safe in the log unless the dog rolled it. After a while the dog left. Bushy was scratched up as well as bruised, on the other hand it was better than being eaten. Bushy thought about his cousins snug home in the old oak tree which was unlike his home in the old warehouse that was shared with several friends. It was starting to get dark, Frisky was worried that Bushy had not arrived. Just as Frisky was about to go look for him, Bushy peeked through the window and said, "Hello!" Frisky rushed to the door and said, "Come in." So Bushy came in the door. Then he thought to himself is this what he always wears. After that Frisky asked Bushy if he wanted some dinner. When he saw what was for dinner he thought city food was much better. So after dinner Bushy asked Frisky if he wanted dessert in the city. They rode a log down the stream to the city. They got off the log and scurried across the road. When they got to the other side Frisky said to Bushy, "My tail almost got ran over!" As they were digging in the garbage behind a cafe a person dumped garbage on top of there heads. Frisky said, "Never mind the dessert. I'm going home. The City is too dangerous!"

The City Squirrel and the Country Squirrel
by Aaron Lasater
Once apon a time there were two cousin squirrel, one that lived in the loud city and the other that lived in the quit country. One day, the country squirrel decided to go see his lovely cousin. He quickly traveled to his cousin's house. After an hour or two he reached his precious cousins house. At his cousin's house there wasn't enough food for the country squirrel and the city squirrel so they had to find more nuts, pecans, and berries. While they were sitting on the ground a gigantic dog quickly pounced toward them and they ran up the tree. "That was too close!" said the country squirrel. "Lets go to my house. There is lots of food. You get to see how your camouflaged." So the two of them slowly set out to the country. When they got there they had to hide quick because there was a hunter. The country squirrel hid on a log while the city squirrel hid in the log. The hunter walked by. All of a sudden, a coyote came out from behind a tree. They ran quickly up a tree. Country squirrel laughed at the coyote. There was a gun shot. Country squirrel had to duck quickly. "It is too dangerous here. I'm going home," said city squirrel. He said he would, so they sat down and ate a delicious meal. City squirrel said, "Its time for me to go home." A few days after he got home, a different squirrel showed up at his door. He said, "Your cousin is dead." "No, it can't be." "Yes, it can." "Tell me how it happened." "It first started when a coyote was chasing him so he laughed at the coyote. The coyote ran away. He didn't know that the hunter was there. The hunter pointed his gun at him and pulled the trigger and your cousin fell to the ground." That is the end of "The City Squirrel and the Country Squirrel."

Country Elephant and Zoo Elephant
by Tucker Jacobs
One day a country elephant called his cousin in the zoo and asked him to come to his house and see how he likes the country. He gleefully agreed to come at once. The country elephant thought that his cousin might need a little help getting there so he happily met him at the corner of the country road. After about 5 minutes the zoo elephant came strolling along and as soon as he saw his cousin he hugged him and asked, "What are we going to eat?" "Well, let's go see cousin," said country elephant. They came to a gigantic tree where they couldn't reach the leaves. The country elephant charged at it and in one mighty shove the tree fell down. The country elephant began eating the lush, green leaves but the zoo elephant not wanting to hurt his cousins feelings nibbled on the leaves. After eating they layed down and looked at the dark, night sky. The zoo elephant was getting bored and finally he said, "Is this all you ever do?" "Yes." The zoo elephant said, "Why don't you come to the zoo with me. There the food is rich and the crowds that come there can admire us too." So the two cousins walked to the zoo. When they got there they went to the elephant cage and peacefully fell asleep. In the morning the zoo elephant woke his cousin and asked him if he slept good. The elephant slowly replied, "Is the ground always this hard?" Later that day the crowds started pouring into the zoo and they all said the same thing which was, "Look at the huge elephants!" The crowd started throwing peanuts at them. Well the country elephant didn't like that at all. He ran to the back of the cage and stayed there. That night he said he would rather eat leaves and lay on soft grass unlike laying on hard cement as well as have peanuts thrown at me. So the two cousins said their good-byes and left. That is the story of the country elephant and the zoo elephant.

The Country Opossum and the City Opossum
by Kevin Higby
Once there was a nice opossum, and he lived in a huge garage. He said, "I'm going to visit my brother Zac." So he set off on his long journey to his brothers house on the other side of Texas. The very first day he traveled fifty miles, but he couldn't find anywhere that he could stay. Finally, he reached the Grand Prix Hotel, and he got a room. Even though it was not like home, or the same, he loved it. The next day, his bill was four rocks. That's four hundred dollars human life. Then, next he got to the village and looked up his brothers address. Then he knocked on his brothers door. He said, "Come in." Next he said, "I'm going to stay for a few weeks." The first night they had corn, apples, and carrots. Even though he didn't like it, he didn't want to hurt his brother's feelings, so he nibbled at it a little bit. They slept in a trash can, though the city opossum was proud of making it. So the next day, he said, "Would you like to go to my house? If you don't want to, that's ok." But he said "yes." While he waited for his brother to pack he thought about how they were unlike each other. So, they set off to his house and they got there at nine p.m. Then he unpacked and they had cat food and steak for dinner. But the city opossum only nibbled on it. Later, they sat down and talked about how their lives are similar and what they have in common.

The Country Raccoon and the City Raccoon
by Tessa Hatcher
Once upon a time there were two raccoon cousins. One lived in the city, the other lived in the country. They were not that much different. But the country raccoon has never been to the city and the city raccoon has never been to the country. Instead they liked it right where they were. One hot and dry day the rowdy city raccoon named Crisky politely called and asked the calm country raccoon named Nabisco if she could come to his big brown tree for a visit. Since he missed her so much the country raccoon quickly accepted. She excitedly looked forward to see her rowdy cousin. In the same way she really wanted to see her cousin's house. So she gently packed up all her comfortable clothes and all her things she needed for a very long and exciting trip. Then she found a newspaper and saw how to get there. It was a gigantic newspaper. It showed that there was a train leaving at two-o-clock on Fifth Street train number 118. She could tell time and there was a colorful clock in the peaceful loft on the first floor. So she knew when to go to Fifth Street to catch the train number 118. When she got there she jumped on the train and headed towards the country. When she arrived, she asked another polite raccoon if he knew where a raccoon named Nabisco lived. He finally answered and he said, "Yes he lives on Timberwood Drive." Then Crisky ran as fast as she could to go to her favorite cousin Nabisco. Then when she got there they played tag and it was so fun. After that they played hide and seek. Then Nabisco said, "Let's go pick berries from trees." Crisky accepted and off they went to find berries and fruits. Then Crisky said, "You go through all this trouble just to get food? Let's go to my place in the city and I'll show you an easier way to get food." So Nabisco said, "Okay I guess so." So off they went to the city. Then Crisky asked if Nabisco would like to play in the city trash cans. Nabisco said yes and off they went to play in the city trash cans. Both of them loved the smell of the trash can. Unless they are full they don't even want to go into the city trash cans. After that they colored then they played Go Fish. While they were playing cards they heard a loud noise that sounded like a person. They got scared and went to the city raccoon's trash can. Then when they were in the trash can the country raccoon said, "I don't like it here I want to go home." So Crisky said, "Goodbye" and off Nabisco went back to his country tree. Although Nabisco liked his cousin Crisky he would much rather live in the peaceful country.

The City Cat and the Country Cat
by Vicky Flores
In a town called New York there lived a black cat called Elvis. Elvis was a tall and slim cat. He was a real happy cat. One fine day he received a letter from his cousin Laura. (Laura was a white plump cat.) And the letter read: "Dear Elvis, I miss you a lot and I was wondering if you could come over? Yours truly, Laura." When Elvis read this he jumped for joy. He danced skillfully all the way to his house. As soon as he got home Elvis started to pack. He happily packed his toys and his clothes and merrily started his long journey to the country. After a couple of hours, Elvis finally arrived at the shabby old place. Laura was outside and greeted him excitedly. She was so happy to see her big cousin. "Elvis, Elvis I'm so glad to see you," she said. "I'm glad to see you too," said Elvis. After they walked for about five minutes they came to a little old house. Laura crawled inside a little crack under the porch. Elvis followed. Elvis was surprised at what he saw it was not the same as his nice cat coop. Instead it was the reverse of his cat coop. The floor was made out of dirt and hard mud. Her bed was just a simple hole in the ground. However Laura was proud of her little old house. Later that lovely day they had dinner. For dinner they had one dead mouse each. Elvis could not bare to eat the pour mouse especially because he was used to Fancy Feast Cat Food. Elvis could not stand it anymore so he asked Laura if he could go home, but he would ask Laura to go with. Of course Laura said Yes! The next day they went to the city. As soon as they got to the Cat Coop Laura was in awe. They went inside the grand doors. Elvis's bed was like a human bed and his floor was made out of slick tile. Of course, that night they had fancy feast cat food and it tasted nasty to Laura. Laura did not like the city so she left. She decided she would rather live in the country than the city.

The City Dog and the Country Dog
by Jeff Cervantes
Once upon a time, there were two small puppy brothers. They were separated from their mom and dad at birth. One lived in the big city. The other lived in the mysterious wild forest. They both looked very similar and they both have a lot in common like they both favor the color red, and they both have the same color fur, black. One day the city dog was in his house eating miniature pieces of chicken, when he decided that he wanted to visit his brother in the country. After he ate he grabbed his leash and quickly set off. When he arrived at his brothers the country dog greeted. As soon as the city dog walked in he was very unhappy because he only had a bed, table, and a kitchen. The country dog said "How about having some lunch?" The city dog said "O.K." What are we having said the city dog. Probably deer, or whatever we can find. City dog was not listening, because he was looking at all the trees through the window. So next they set off through the woods. City dog asked, "Is there a restaurant down here because I'm getting stickers on my feet." The country dog said, "What's a restaurant?" City dog said, "What do you mean we are going to a restaurant, aren't we?" "We're going hunting." "Hunting!!" yelled the city dog. I hate hunting. The city dog said, "NO, NO, NO brother let's go to the city and I'll show you what I eat." It was late so they went back to country dogs house and went to bed hungry. The next morning they went to the city and went to a very fancy restaurant so fancy that they could not pronounce it. They walked in and ate lots of Chinese food. When they walked out a big huge car zoomed by and all of a sudden you heard a loud bark. Country dog got his leg hit. The city dog cried, "Are you ok?" The country dog said, "I'm a little hurt but I'll be ok. When the country dog got up and was alright he said, "I think I want to go home." So country dog went on home. The end.

The City Rabbit and the Country Rabbit
by Nicole Baez
Dear Rabbit, the country rabbit wrote on her friendly letter. Just then the phone rang loudly. "Hello," said the country rabbit. Hi said the city rabbit. "I just wanted to see what's happening." Both the rabbits were going to surprise each other by going to their house. So they set off but the city rabbit had to trick her owner to let her go. When the bus stop came they stayed low to the floor so the other would not see them. The country and city rabbits were right behind each other! Soon the city rabbit got off at the farm. And not until a long time the country rabbit got off. The country rabbit had a funny feeling about coming over in the city. Bam the door opened. Oh Bebe I missed you. Suddenly the country rabbit looked like a city rabbit. They lived being country, city. For a very long time, they liked it can you believe that. There are a lot of differences said the city rabbit. Like eat or having to where clothes. A week they liked their houses and where they lived. But they got tired. They got on the bus and they sat next to each other. And both said what are you doing here. And they told their long stories to each other. The end.

The City Fox and the Country Fox
by Brittany Miller
Once upon a time there was a city fox and a country fox. They were cousins but they were also friends. They loved to play softly with each other in their dreams. But they could not play together in real life because they lived far apart from each other. One fox lived in the city and the other one lived in the country. The city fox's name was Mary and the country fox's name was Vixy. They were young pups. One day Mary sent a note to Vixy. It said, "Dear cousin, I was wondering when I would see you, so I thought maybe you would like to see me at my place, in the city. Love, Mary." Well Vixy was so excited the she ran to her room. She ran so fast it looked like she flew. When she got there she took the black suitcase hiding under her red bed and packed up to go to the large city. When she was all packed up she called Mary and asked were she lived. Vixy swiftly wrote down the address of her cousin's house. She grabbed the note, dropped it in her pocket and ran out the door on her way to the city. When she arrived there Vixy was amazed that the city was gigantic. She walked out of the fluffy bushes and saw a bone chilling dog. Vixy was scared half to death when that dog came right at her. She flew past all the traffic in search of a hiding spot. Finally, Vixy lost the dog and found her self at the cousin's house. Mary was baking a cake then she wrote in blue letters. "Welcome to the City." It was the biggest cake Vixy has ever seen. "Let's go on a walk," said Mary. So the two foxes walked together across the street and all of a sudden a truck came and barely caught Vixy's tail. "Oh my tail just got run over," she cried. "I want to go home. Would you like to come with me." "If you really want me to come with you I will," said Mary. So they gracefully skipped to the country. First thing they did was to go on a picnic. But Mary had a problem with the red ants because they stung her on her legs. Also, she couldn't climb heavy rocks as well as her cousin. "Ug, I'm dirty I need to take a bath," said Mary. "Let's go to the refreshing lake and take a cool bath there," Vixy said. "I don't want to take a bath there. I want to take it in clean water," said Mary. So they said their good-byes and the city fox left for the, well for city of course.

by Eric Story
There were two brothers. One was the country dog, and the other one was the city dog. The city dog wrote a letter to his brother in the country. It said: "Dear Brother, I want to see you sometime this week. Come to my house on Friday. P.S. I miss you very much. Love, brother." So the country brother packed all of his toys, and his lucky doggy bones and jumped quickly to his brother's house. When he got to his brother's house the country dog said, "What are we going to eat?" The city dog replied, "We're going to eat corn on the cob, and some ribs, and a bowl of fresh water." So they both ate all of the food. But the city brother said do you want to go to all of the stores. Ok, replied the country dog. So they went and it was very noisy for the country dog. I want to go to my house, do you want to come with me? Ok replied the city dog. So they both quickly jumped all the way to the country. They both had the same food like the city. But when they ate all the food they went hiking for wildlife. They saw Eagles, snakes, hawks, lizards, fish, and some horn lizards. The city dog liked the country. So the city dog said, I want to live with you. Ok, said the country dog. He replied yes you can and they lived happy ever after. "The End."

The City Dog and the Country Dog
by Jessica Tilra
Once upon a time there was a chubby country boxer dog and a beautiful city poodle. However they were cousins and had never seen each other because they lived in two different places. So one day the country dog wrote a short letter with his paw to his cousin Annabell. He wrote, "Dear Annabell, Hi! Would you like to visit me? Unless you are too busy. Please write back. Love, Hank." Annabell was so excited she wrote her letter that said, "Dear Hank, Hi! I'm going to come to your house. Love, Annabell." Annabell was out of her house in a flash. While Annabell was still finding Hanks house Hank was sleeping like a baby. When Annabell got to Hanks house and saw that he was asleep she was surprised with all of the excitement. When Hank woke up he saw Annabell and was so scared he fell out of his rocker. Annabell helped Hank to his feet but instead of falling back asleep Hank took Annabell around his house. When Annabell sat down she got dirt on her puffy tail. Also when she sat down she got a sticker in her paw. She really did not like his house. Annabell could not stand it so Annabell said, "I can't stand it anymore." So finally Annabell left the country after she got the sticker out of her foot. Hank was really sorry about what happened, so he wrote a sorry letter and asked for her forgiveness. Her next letter came in about a week and gave him forgiveness. Also she invited her boxer cousin dog to come over and stay with her for a while. Hank was on his way to the city, but he did not write a letter because he wanted to surprise her. When Hank got to the city he had to crossover many highways to find Annabells huge house. Hank had to go through a tiny dog door to get to Annabell. She had a humongous house that had a water dish made of gold. She had a dream come true. It took forever to climb the stairs. Hank really liked where Annabell lived because what more could a dog want. When Annabell saw Hank Annabell jumped out of her hair salon area. Annabell slowly gave a tour around her house that took one whole hour. Even though after dinner Hank was kinda feeling homesick he thought awhile and knew what to say. He went to his poodle cousin Annabell and said peacefully, "Annabell I can't stay here. I don't deserve all these luxury and poodles get this luxury not boxers." "O.K." said Annabell, "Let's just write."

The Country Pigeon and the City Pigeon
by Cody Renken
One day there were two pigeon cousins. One lived in the country and the other in the city. They had never seen each other before. However, they wanted to see each other's house. So the Country Pigeon called the City Pigeon with his loud chirping noises. The City Pigeon heard the noises and quickly flew to see his house. It was very small in the hollow of an oak tree and hidden in the dark woods. Country Pigeon had been gathering worms and insect for a long time so that City Pigeon would feel at home. When he arrived, they were ready to eat so they sat in the comfortable nest. Suddenly, City Pigeon saw what was for dinner. He almost gagged. This food isn't the same as the food in the city. There's food everywhere such as seeds and bread from the park, scraps of food such as, fish and mice. But not to be rude, he nibbled a little here and there. Then the City Pigeon asked, "Do you want to come to my house for dinner?" The Country Pigeon said, "Yes." While they were flying high in the sky they were getting shot at. The City Pigeon couldn't wait to get to the city, because he was not use to bullets flying by. Even though deadly bullets were flying, they escaped the danger. When they arrived Country Pigeon couldn't believe all of the food such as, bread and seeds. Both of them were eating peacefully when the naughty children came and chased them away. The Country Pigeon was so scared he flew all the way home. In the end they found out that instead of being similar they were very unalike and felt fine where they lived. The City Pigeon hated the country because of the bullets, and the Country Pigeon hated the city because it was so crowded. That's the story of the Country Pigeon and the City Pigeon.

Finally he found it and his cousin was waiting for him and when they saw each other they sat and started to talk about when they last met. When they stopped talking they in farther to city elephant's house. Now they were both hungry so they went to the hayloft and ate some hay until they were full. And now they were tired so they layed down and said good night and then it was quiet. And then in the morning they woke up and ate some golden hay. Then the zoo opened up and people crowded in and said look at those huge elephants. Then a man with a whip came out and started to whip them and the country elephant didn't like that and neither did the zoo elephant. They both ran at the door and with a thud the door fell down.
