It was a wet and windy morning and land seemed further away than it was last time she looked, that's when Tulip Samantha Sugarlump discovered that she was drifting away from land, the land she had been hoping to end up on, was moving away from her day by day. She thrust her head up in an effort to neigh as loud as she could even though she knew it wouldn't help, but then the boat tipped and she fell out. To her surprise she didn't sink down and down till she drowned, she hit the beach hard and she felt five pairs of hands grab her and take her away she felt some sort of club hit her over the head and she knew no more. When she woke she was in a paddock containing several other horses that had been captured by the six evil, sneaky bandits that captured her. She settled down to the life of the bandit's home, though it wasn't much of a life, the bandits never groomed her, the grass was all brown and prickly and didn't go down well in the throat, the bandit's only gave you one lump of sugar a year which, true to her name, was her favourite food. Years later, when she looked more like a ball of hair than anything else, her animal instincts told her something marvellous would happen very soon. She was right; no more than a week later a tall knight in armour that could just about blind you came riding on a stallion so beautiful even Tulip in her former beauty contests wouldn't match him so she knew she loved him at first sight. The knight and his horse rode in and tulip noticed that the knight was holding a brush and a pair of shears; he dismounted and walked towards the horses. He groomed finer than the best groom could do she thought, and when he left, she knew that the knight and the horse would be back one day to deliver them. The years went by and Tulip noticed two things; one, the number of horses increased tenfold and two, quite a few builders came to and fro making extra attachments to the building though Tulip knew not why the sudden interest in the house was, the house was becoming a mansion! Soon something strange happened, an old, old salesman came along and asked if the bandits wanted to buy this luxurious couch he'd brought along with him. The bandits accepted and the salesman went back to his big carriage, went in and didn't want to come out yet. He said he was 'having trouble with the furniture' but Tulip could see him, he ripped off a mask and now he was a young man, he started putting on knight's armour, he was actually the knight she saw years before! "'Urry up y'old beggar!" came the boss bandit's voice, "I'm coming" replied the knight. That's when he came out, sword drawn, roaring out a battle cry to scare the bad guys out of their skin though he would never kill a man so ruthlessly as the surprise attack. The bandits ran away never to be seen again but the Chinese said they saw an Englishman or two going spastic around the Emperor's Palace. The thief's mansion now belonged to the otherwise homeless knight called Sir Arthur Manily [Man-a-lee or Man-ly] and Tulip and the fierce stallion that was called 'Fierce Stallion' had a lovely female foal, in other words, everything finished nicely. The little foal grew up to like adventures and Tulip and Fierce Stallion couldn't blame her. |
